Hi. Sorry to have kept you waiting for a response; we are just back from spring break. I'll poke around in the library catalog a bit, but first can you clarify the time period you are looking for? You said "immigration" not "migration" so I assume you are not talking about native peoples or the earliest arrivals. Is there a particular point of origin you are interested in?

If you are looking for immigration, try this as a Keyword Boolean search in the Library Catalog: "south america" and immigration

If migration, try "south america" and migration

If you find any especially good resources you might try following their subject terms, which are hyperlinked in the records, for more like them.

 

For journal articles you might start with the database America: History and Life. The same search strategies yield lots of articles.

Try those and let me know if we need to dig deeper.
